Petey found a place to rest his sausage head

Good news. Great news. Petey has found a new place. In fact, there were about 70 places where he would have been well cared for. In the end, he made fast friends with another french bulldog named Pepper and her owners Sophia and Consuelo. I couldn’t be happier and neither could he. He’s got a huge place in Sunset Park, a backyard, a nearby park, another dog to cause trouble with all day and human that often works from home.
I’m lucky to get a lot of photo updates of him adapting to the new place and it’s been great. I miss the little bugger, and it’s been strange coming home to a quiet apartment, but he is obviously happier than he’s been in a long time. When I visited him soon after the move, he was super excited to see me, but quickly grew tired of me and started running around with his new best friend Pepper.
I’ll post photos here from time to time of them loving life.
They made a tumblr as well.

Oh! From the archives! Petey in his nymag debut!!!!
Again, thanks everyone for all the support. There’s been interest from SF, LA, Virginia, Maine, Baltimore, both Carolinas and obviously tons in the NY/NJ area. Thank you again. Petey is meeting lots of lovely people and I will keep you updated of his progress through all of this.
You have all been wonderful in this strange time. You’ve taken something sad and made it heart-warming. We’re very grateful for the response.
It’s True, Petey Needs A New Home

This is my dog, Petey. He’s great. He’s not ugly like a lot of French bulldogs. His tongue doesn’t stick out, also, which is a plus.
But this is the thing: he needs a new home.
To make a long story short, I was married and we got a dog because it made sense at the time. That ended and I took him in the split because, if nothing else, I could bring him to work with me. Unfortunately, I got a new job with a whole new set of obligations and an office with a No Dogs policy. Petey pretty much sits at home by himself all day. I have a dog walker but, thanks to work and life, I don’t come home until late and I want to see if I can find a better place for him.
So, here we are, reading about a dog in Williamsburg, Brooklyn who needs a new family.
He’s the best, though. He likes to sit on your lap and chill out and do whatever. Sometimes he can be a tad lazy, which isn’t terrible either. He’ll lick your face, but probably burp in it right after. He’s a French bulldog, though, so it comes with the territory. Also, you won’t be able to walk more than a block without people asking to pet him because he’s really, really cute.
Ideally, I want to find him a place with another dog. He gets along with them, big or small. He seems to tolerate kids pretty well as long as they don’t chase him with a bat for hours. But, yeah, if you are looking for a buddy for your dog, Petey might be the little guy you are looking for.
He’s a good size for the subway too if you are a NYC kid. He loves to jump in a bag and ride wherever. Whenever he sees his bag, he gets excited and wiggles. This is why the bag has a name. The bag is named “Adventure Bag”.
He’s 3. He’s got a lot of good years. If you are looking for a buddy and can give him a great home, please contact me: jeremyschoenherr+petey@gmail.com
Petey has many nicknames. Sausage Bear is just the start. Tokyo Drift. Hover Bear. Peetles. P.T.109. Wiki-pete-ia. He doesn’t really respond to those, but that’s ok. He hardly responds to his own name.
Here he is getting a bath. He’s probably thinking about food.

[Update: Petey has found a place.. Will do a more exhaustive post soon. But for now, thank you everyone for reaching out!]
